I am glad I went to church today.
I saw this guy who looks cute on the guitar. I wonder who is he. Goodness, can’t help falling for guys who can play musical instruments.
Today’s sermon was on ‘It’s not fair’, the second in the series of teaching by Pastor on the book of Habakkuk. It is so relevant to what we are facing with nowadays. In the Bible’s context, Habakkuk was questioning God why would He allow a more evil nation to destroy a less evil nation. It is that genuine, personal relationship between Habakkuk the prophet, in line with him acknowledging the Almighty, Holy and always righteous God which allowed him to hear from God.

The gist of the sermon that I gathered is that God’s ways are always higher than ours. We humans can never comprehend His ways and thoughts. Also, we should learn to wait. God’s timing is always perfect. We cannot comprehend his timing either. Just look at David. When he was annointed to be the king by Samuel, he was still a young boy, probably 15 years old. When he became king, he was 30 years old or so. In between, he was being hunted down by the then king Saul.
Indeed, we must learn to wait upon His perfect timing. Pastor challenged us.. whether it is our job prospect, a relationship, a lifetime partner.. we may be questioning God.. why, Lord? Why? When?
Yet, beyond those questions we must learn to wait. Just because His timing is perfect.

Sometimes, it is hard to believe that after over half a decade since I nearly made it to visit the UK, I finally got my chance to study there. Well, although it is just the three clinical years, it is still the UK. I mentioned “nearly made it” because I was the finalist of the Real UK British Council competition back in 2003.
It was a coincidental thing for me to join the competition. I had to write and essay about my impression on the UK. I wrote a piece and emailed it in without putting any high hopes. It was quite a while after I finally, unexpectedly received an email in my inbox saying that I was shortlisted as one of the 10 finalists in the country. I was estatic, of course. But there was another assignment for me - shoot a video. I think I really screwed that one up and in the end, I didn’t win the trip to the UK.
Well, I suppose all is not lost. My cousins moved to London few years after that. Everyone in my family, excluding myself has visited London. It is finally my chance to go there.. not now, but next year.

Sometimes, I would be thinking how my life would be over there. I can’t really say for now. I wonder what sort of accomodation would I get. Would there be a cosy, modern bedroom? Nice housemates? Well, probably it is too early for me to decide on anything. But it certainly doesn’t hurt to daydream?

I just lost balance and bang my head on the wall. It was at my frontal-temporal region. I could still feel the vibration now. What happened?
On the other end of the spectrum, I am now listening to a classic ‘You Raise Me Up’ sang as a cover song by Westlife. If you were teenagers during the late 1990’s and earlier 2000’s, you can possibly miss out this popular Irish boyband.

I could still vividly remember ‘Swear It Again’ and ‘Flying Without Wings’, their earliest singles. There were many songs from this boyband which I really enjoyed. It is their crisp vocals, strong yet soothing at the same time. They are one of those groups which I can truly enjoy and appreciate their songs without having to go crazy over the singers per se. Well, being fans who vie for original purchases, my sis and I collected all their albums.. up to.. I can’t remember which one.
Well, apparently, they don’t make it big in the US. They tried, but not so well received. Who cares, it is the Americans’ loss, in my personal opinion.

p/s I must have been hiding under blankets - I knew Nicky dated the Irish PM’s daughter but I didn’t know they are married. Well, Shane is married as well. Whoa! And those weddings took place half a decade ago. Outdated lah me.
Next time, I should talk about the resurfacing of boybands such as the New Kids on The Block and Boyzone.

Yesterday as I was walking back from jogging with my housemate, we passed the newspaper seller sitting at the bus stop. My housemate was just telling me how one of her batchmates would be faithfully buying the evening papers every day without fail. It was at that instant also we saw Raja Petra face on the front page of the chinese evening dailies.
“RPK freed?” we asked ourselves. It must really make headlines. We started discussing about the case as we walked back to our apartment.

Sometimes, I ask myself - why would RPK go all out to write all those things he has written? What benefits would he gain? He really has nothing to gain but all his life to lose in this controversial politcal whirlwind. In fact, he should probably should consider getting a mortgage life insurance. It is really no joke sort of dangerous world out there. What he is currently doing is almost what I can call ’sacrificial’. Not many people dare to go all out to expose certain sensitive issues.

Well, everyone is talking about the United States of America of late. If it is not about Barack Obama making the history as the first African-American president of the world’s most dominant nation, it must be about the current economy crisis or the currency exchange rate. It seems like the States is no doubt the most powerful country whose decisions and politics affect other nations around the globe.
Even the Seed No. 4 was telling me how she enjoys reading or watching anything American. I find it a new discovery because previously she was more into the Asian side of media and entertainment industry. Of late, this girl has started reading American story books and watch the CSI series. Like me, she prefers CSI:NY. Our first Seed always foot for the original CSI, which is based in Las Vegas, (speaking of which, you may want to check out las vegas hotel) but I still think the New York ones have more interesting cases.

Whatever preference it may be, I am glad that the sister of mine is starting to open her outlook to something more global. Not necessarily being westernised, but at least a teeny weeny bit of exposure.
